Cryptocurrency hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger made a significant announcement at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas this week, unveiling plans to launch its Crypto Life (CL) Visa card in the United States starting June 30, 2025. The card, facilitated by crypto payments platform Baanx, will offer users 1% cashback in Bitcoin (BTC) or USDC on purchases, along with the ability to directly deposit paychecks into the card account via bank transfer.
Key Features Announced
The CL Card is positioned as a crypto debit card that allows users to grow their digital holdings as they spend, with funds held in self-custody. Users can spend crypto globally at over 90 million merchants through Visa’s network. The card also enables direct paycheck deposits that can be automatically converted to crypto. Despite the announcement generating significant interest, few details about the card’s physical appearance or specific design elements have been made public. The company has not yet released images of the U.S. version of the card, which may still be in development ahead of the June launch.
Availability and Partnership
The CL Card will be available throughout the U.S., excluding New York and Vermont, when it launches on June 30. The card represents an expansion of an existing product that has been available across Europe and the UK. Baanx, which powers the card technology, also provides self-custody crypto cards for major players including MetaMask, Tools for Humanity, and 1inch. Ledger has not yet provided comprehensive details about pricing, specific design elements, or the full range of supported cryptocurrencies for the American market.
More information is expected to be released as the June 30 launch date approaches.
